EBOOK DESIGN
INTRODUCTION
The eBook is a collection of Liu Ye’s artwork, and the cover design needed to reflect the artist’s unique style and vision.Liu Ye is a contemporary Chinese painter known for his colorful, and stylized images. He is greatly inspired by Western abstract artists such as Piet Mondrian and Paul Klee. Liu Ye’s work depicts his playful imaginings and interests rather than political and economic changes in China.
GOAL
The design goal was to create a book cover and page layouts that portrays Liu Ye’s artistic style. For this, I chose his artwork that tells the most about him. This artwork also needed to be visually striking, eye-catching, and appeal to art enthusiasts and collectors alike. Additionally, the layout should be easy to navigate and allow readers to appreciate Lie Ye’s artwork in all its beauty in the form of an art gallery.
CREATIVE PROCESS
The first step in the design process was to research and analyze Lie Ye’s artwork. I reviewed various pieces of Liu Ye’s artwork, paying close attention to his use of colour, composition, and form. I also researched the artist’s background, inspirations, and style, which helped me understand how to capture the essence of his work in my design.
CHALLENGES
Incorporating Piet Mondrian’s style within the ebook while focusing on the artist Liu Ye was the most challenging throughout the process of this book.
OUTCOME
During my research on Liu Ye’s artwork, I discovered a particular piece that provided significant insight into the artist’s inspirations and style. It became apparent to me that Liu Ye was influenced by Piet Mondrian, and I decidedto feature this piece on the book cover to showcase this influence and some of his personality.
